ABOUT CEDAR LIVING
Cedarliving is founded on a deep respect for family values and our elderly citizens. Our purpose is to empower and enrich the lives of our seniors. We achieve this by developing, building, and operating retirement living communities that offer an exceptional independent senior living experience.
Cedarliving upholds best practices throughout our company to ensure that we are continually delivering the high standard in seniors independent living.
We must acknowledge that all our events and programs take place on on the unceded, traditional, and ancestral territories of the Coast Salish people, including the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), səl ilwəta ̓ ʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), and xʷməθkʷəyə ̓ m (Musqueam) Nations.
As part of their traditional use of forests, the Culturally Modified Trees (CMT) altered by the indigenous people are extremely important evidence of their rights to the territory.
Discovering and recognizing the CMT at the Cedarliving site, and wholly preserving and displaying one 31.5m high CMT trunk as a cultural attraction on the exterior wall of Cedarliving, is recognizes Indigenous’ ongoing stewardship of our territory, is important fundamental step towards long-term reconciliation.
In addition, we have reserved a 5,400sqft "West Van & Indigenous Cultural and Heritage Centre" in Cedarliving. This will be the place where more in-depth cultural exchanges between our community residents and the local Indigenous start. This active interaction and communication exchanges about heritage, tradition and culture will bring more long-term and practical benefits to our community, including finding more fundamental transportation solutions.
Cedarliving is in the perfect location for convenience and privacy. The proposed site 3.65 acres of tree-lined land right by a natural creek. There will be a spacious roof-top garden and natural wooden path around the building. The residents will be able to enjoy the fresh air and the relaxing sounds of the creek’s running water from anywhere on the site.
The main dining room, and café/library are located on the top floor and will be a popular social amenity to serve our neighborhood. The residents will enjoy stunning views of Burrard Inlet, Lion’s Gate Bridge and Stanley Park every day during dinner or socializing with friends.
